move the mountain (K2)

Post by JurajB » Fri May 03, 2024 2:40 pm

Hello,
Im thinking if K2 do not want to update for J!5, why do you don't deliver k2 features into v5.2 ?
I think many people will want this and also you find some people that will be willing to help.
Thank you.

That's the joy of open source, you can create the code you want for this and then submit a pull request.

Would be a good idea to start the startup - something like joomlapower.com/joomlacoding.com and hire teammembers to code this?
I have 10 years of reading coaching books, and I am good at organisation, I had some experience of my startup gurutesting for testing beta versions. So anyone who is willing to help to transform and update k2 into next joomla big release or at least discuss it please write here. Or at my mail [email protected].
Thanks.

There is already a somewhat maintained fork for J4/J5 https://github.com/eworkers/K2ForJ4. No release has been made though. And shame they didn't fork it properly.

Hi. Just wondering. Why do you still need K2? Do not Joomla's custom fields do this work?

I'm willing to help with this in providing AI support and documentation.

To study K2 and then Joomla 5.1 documentation and map actions to take to update K2 to Joomla 5.1 or 5.2 then write the code takes a lot of time.

## So the process with AI support is.

* The AI will read all the code for Joomla 5.0 and Joomla 5.1
* Then read all the documentation for upgrading Joomla components to 5.1
* Then AI will read all the code from https://github.com/eworkers/K2ForJ4
* Then the AI will map out all the code that needs to be updated to 5.1 for the repository https://github.com/eworkers/K2ForJ4
* The AI can then either upgrade the code, or help a developer upgrade the code

This will automate most if not all of the process.
The developer will need to test and fix any issues.

I'd need to work with a developer with some familiarity with Joomla extensions to map out the AI agent actions to upgrade the components.

I will opensource this tool so that any user can update their components to Joomla5.2 and forward etc.

Hello nexai, your idea seems relevant.

joomlacoding.com is registered and will be up today.
More freelancers with more ideas are welcome.
I also ask for official Joomla support for joomlacoding project.
The project will give more power into joomla development. Everything will be discussed and only after joomla agrees will be done.
Can we get a forum entry, for example next to the longue?
Many thanks, much love.

I have got three or four different projects working on.
joomla.org - serious
joomlacoding.com - geeky

So if there is a problem I can fix
I can do it in the mix

The AI libraries are written in python. It may not be feasible to move this to PHP to run in Joomla.

The joomlacoding.com site can have a UI that calls the python library as a webservice (rest api).

We can also offer the same python library bundled together with a php component to run python via the CLI. That way the component can be distributable and run on any joomla site.

Running AI services is a bit costly so there would either need to be some funding, monetization or usage of an external paid service such as OpenAI (GPT) or Huggingface, Replicate etc. These offer AI services that you can subscribe to and input your api key into the component so you cover the fees with your subscription.

I will do some tests to see if I can have a simple component upgraded by AI agent pipeline and if so I'll start on a more complex component until we get to K2.

can we get a freelancer to modify a template?
I have 10 years skills of motivational literature, I will study some startup stuff and post.
We can continue the chat on kunena which I will install on joomlacoding.com
I wonder if we can get sponsor nootropicsdepot.com to motivate the freelancers

The email address configured in the menu item is invalid - (Email To)
Using Flexi Contact
I have configured SMTP.
Can somebody PM me so we can discuss the problem?

This is a test mail sent using "SMTP". Your email settings are correct!
SMTP from Joomla is correct.

It may be possible to create the AI extension based on JED Checker.
https://extensions.joomla.org/extension/jedchecker/

This already has the logic for ensuring an extension has the correct code for the latest Joomla version.
This can be extended to update the code in place and return an extension that is updated to the latest version. 5.x at this time.

Can somebody post the research of jedchecker and write it on our site? I want to know everything of it in one place.
edit: user registration fixed and kunena forum is prepared
