Parent for new menu

Post by abomareya » Mon May 06, 2024 11:50 pm

??? In simply

Two menus have careated:

Menu1

Menu2

Asume that the default main menu item is Menu1.item1 which point to main page

Now ,

The parents of all menu items on menu2 is Menu1.item1 (by default)

The question:

How to set menu1.item5 (for examble) as a parent of all menu items of menu2 instead of menu1.item1 (home page)?

Not sure of understand well.Is not possible set as parent a menu item from one menu for items of a different menu...but again, maybe I not got well your idea.

With what I understood, here a idea: Have in mind the alias type of menu item, wich you can set a alias to a different menu item (not matter in what menu). So, in your menu2, create a alias item to point to your menu1.item5 and then you can set that menu2.alias.item as parent for the rest of the menu items of menu2 you want under this link.
The future will be automated, decentralized, and digital.

You could move it to the other menu then set it as parent for that menu

Thank you for your idea and your attempt to help me, but I tried to implement it (and perhaps I also did not understand well), but I did not get the desired result.

Thank you for your idea, but the advantage of creating a separate menu is the ability to control it in terms of the location , position or pages on which it will appear, and this is not achieved in your idea.

The question here is, how can I ask Joomla developers to include this feature in future versions, especially since it is very easy to program and will give great benefit and a new dimension to using menus in Joomla..?

Now that is confusing because I suggested you move the menu item to the other menu. So that is the menu item moved to a 'separate menu'

I mean when there is Menu 1 and Menu 2

In this case, I can control Menu 2 easily

This is different from Menu 2 being a submenu of Menu 1

This makes them look like one menu in terms of control

All I want is for Menu 2 items to have a parent other than the home page...

I am very sorry for not being able to explain well and causing any misunderstanding

Ah now I see
Menu 1 Parent
>Menu 1 child 1
>Menu 1 child 2
>Menu 1 child 3
>Menu 1 child 4
Menu 2 Parent
>Menu 2 child 1
>Menu 2 child 2
>Menu 2 child 3
>Menu 2 child 4
>Menu 2 child 5

Create menu module set a Base item, start and end level assign an Access level. Select a Position and set the menu items to display on.
Rinse and repeat.
It will take a little experimentation and you will need to have test users of various access levels.
Although it would be simpler to have two separate menus
https://docs.joomla.org/Split_menus
https://docs.joomla.org/J3.x:Creating_a_submenu

Suggest you use wamp localhost and transfer the site (with Akeeba) to test.
