Some newbie questions...
Hi all!
It's a pleasure to be here.
As a newbie, I have some simple questions (joomla 5)
The first: if I go to my control panel, everything works fine only with Firefox. The backend is not well displayed with Chrome and misses some functions with Safari. How can it be possible, since Chrome is the most used (80%) browser?
The second: I purchased some extensions, but they works fine only with Firefox and Safari. I have problems with Chrome, and this means that those problems will be present on almost 80% of the cases. Well, my question is: I have to write to the extension seller or to the template seller? And however... is there (usually) a solution or not?
Thank you in advance!!!
Fab

Re: Some newbie questions...
Please provide additional information, such as screenshots of the problems or any error messages you see in Google Chrome. Turn on the debug and error reporting functions (in PHP) or through the Joomla global configuration and report any error messages you see.
Joomla 5 works fine in Chrome without issues for me. Make sure Chrome is the latest version.
Which extensions are you referring to (can you provide the Extension Directory links)? If there are free version equivalents it may allow us to test any with Chrome to replicate the problem(s) you're having.
Can you confirm any other Chromium-based browser has the same issues e.g. Edge, Brave, Opera?
Are you using an Apple Mac? Safari for Windows is no longer offered (since 2010). If using Apple Mac I suppose you can't test Microsoft Edge but those of us on Windows could do.

Re: Some newbie questions...
Hi again
first of all, thank you for your support.
Well.
- what i see on the backend is in the attached file. The same on Chrome and Opera. No error messages
- It's the Chrome latest version
- I use Apple Mac Studio
And about the extension:
- it's https://www.joomlatema.net/commercial-e ... rsion.html. I see that extension well working on the demo page with Chrome.
- if you go to https://013.depechemodeitalia.com/index ... an-griffin, for example, on the right you'll se that extension working. On my MAC, with firefox i see the scroll effect. On Chrome, i see the long list of all the articles recriuted, without scrolling.
- the template is https://warptheme.com/joomla-templates/trendi/ . Pro standard version.
Ehm...there is a very bizarre thing I noticed just now. If I copy that URL of my website from Chrome and i paste it to Firefox....the extension also on Firefox does not work...i see the articles list and not the scrolling.
And it does NOT work on Firefox even if i click from the link I put on this post...
If i start from zero from the main page in another Firefox panel, it works
Thank you again...

Re: Some newbie questions...
Hi. This is not a browser problem. For some reason, at times CSS from your server do not load. Do you use latest Joomla version?
Try rename the existing .htaccess to htaccess-old.txt and exixsting htaccess.txt to .htaccess. Then clean Joomla and browser cache and check.
The only reason from Joomla side is the old contents in the .htaccess file, which passed with you through updates. If this does not help, then the reasons can be in the extensions of your browser, in antivirus, problems with the server and ect.

I will try as soon as possible.
By the way, it's a fresh Joomla 5 installation. Never updated it.

Re: Some newbie questions...
Hi.
Have you renamed .htaccess correctly? The dot at the beginning is required.
If this does not help, it is not possible to determine the problem without access to your resources. I have never encountered this in Joomla. Therefore, I assume that this is your local problem.
Does this happen on the entrance page to the admin panel? The admin entrance page of your site looks great in all my browsers.
Dev Tools of your browser will help to find the reason. If you do not know how to work with Dev Tools, hire someone in your city, who can come to you and work on your computer. Or with the provision of remote access to your computer

Re: Some newbie questions...
Another thought came to mind, try turning off this plugin
--
And make sure that it is OFF (Global settings > Server tab) --
If this helps, then this means that your server is incorrectly configured.

Re: Some newbie questions...
First of all, i would like to thank all of you, and Pavel, for the time you gave me. Thank you so much.
My hosting solved the problem. When i wrote them, they answered:
"It seems to be a known problem in the latest versions of Joomla, it is usually resolved by deactivating the gzip compression directives within the .htaccess file and then emptying any cache to regenerate it.
On our servers, since compression is already active, we run into double compression problems, so we recommend deactivating it." They did it for me and
So Pavel was right, I suppose.
They did it for me and now everything works well (browsers too!), but only one module. It's is enough to activate it, without publish it, and my website goes down, since i get only this error:
0
Failed opening required '/home/mysite/http://mysite.com/components/com_conten ... /route.php' (include_path='.::/opt/cpanel/ea-php82/root/usr/share/pear')
I wrote it to the seller, but no answers since one week. But this is another kettle of fish, I bet.
Thanks again friends.

Re: Some newbie questions...
If you paid for an extension and the author is not providing support and it's in JED try reporting it?

Yes, that extension is in JED. I wrote a message in the author's forum. He replied me one week ago to enter as admin in my website, but since his reply....nothing
Should I report it? And where?

Re: Some newbie questions...
In JED there is a tab on each extension for reporting. Perhaps give him a little more time to reply? He may be creating an update to fix the problem.

Hi. This problem has long been resolved. That is why I suggested that you rename htaccess to get a file with a new code that solves this problem. It is strange that it did not work.Fab013_ wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 12:24 pmWhen i wrote them, they answered:

Nevertheless, I am glad that you managed to solve the problem.
